What is Nakamad: Madrid journey planner. The story about our custom plans…
¡Hola! We are Daniel and Olga, your new Madrid local friends from Nakamad. Well, we were going to tell you who we are and what we do, with a perfect, correct, marketing style written text. But, actually, it seemed to us more entertaining telling you how we made up with Nakamad, more than just writing about Madrid tourism. So, here is our story….
“We love travelling. New York city, U.S. west coast, Berlin, London, Paris, Rome, almost all Spain,…. For every trip, we made simple but helpfull maps, where we marked all the places we wanted to visit, with some basic information attached. We included very famous and touristic points quite often (how could we miss the Empire State or the Eiffel Tower!), but what we really liked to put in was all that different, curious places that never appears in those typical tourism routes. A comic shop, spots were movie scenes were filmed, a surrealistic statue, a bar where locals go to to have some beers,… Place that rarely are included in any travel guide, or places that you suddenly discover after many hours searching online. That places change your trip into something unforgettable. This is what we call alternative tourism.
One day, two friends of us decided to travel to New York city. We offered them to let them our maps, something they really appreciated because they were running out of time. Buying a travel guide was useless for them, and they did not want to depend on a city tour guide. They just wanted to feel free and careles.
When they came back to Madrid, we asked them if our maps were usefull. We did not expected their answer: “Of course!! We don´t know what would have done without them! They have been really helpfull! THANK YOU!!” Althought those plans were made thinking of us, our friends had pretty similar likes and preferences, so we were really thrilled about make them having as fun in NYC as we had!
The word was spred between our all of our friends and relatives, and more people asked for our maps. Besides Olga started to include the “Olgui-tips”: usefull information about timetables, local culture and recommendations about the cities she already visited. Sudenly, our simple plans became professional, custom travelling plans. We were having more a more positive feedback, while we were still shocked.
So, the idea came up: “If we love trip planning, people are asking for it and they are so satisfied…why don´t we turn it into a professional possibility as alternative Madrid journey planner? We could show the world all Madrid neigborhoods hidden gems, and make custom plans telling them all alternative things to do in Madrid…”. We hope you have understood what is nakamad?
And that is how we founded Nakamad. Keeping that essence of our home-made, full of care maps, but now transformed into a tailored, unique and professional product. We want you to enjoy all the cool things to do in Madrid in a different way.
So, if you are planning Madrid holidays and want a custom plan full with non touristy things to do in Madrid, we, Madrid and your nakaplans are waiting for you.
Dani y Olga.
